SkyfloX visited ESA’s Hertz Hybrid European RF and Antenna Test Zone, located at the European Space Research and Technology Center (ESTEC) in Noordwijk. The chamber is anechoic, screened against external electromagnetic radiation, and the inside walls are covered with pyramid-shaped non-reflective foam to absorb signals and prevent unwanted reflections. This chamber is usually used to perform measurements on larger antennas or complete satellite payloads.
SkyfloX intends to use the facility to measure the performance of antennas mounted on commercial aircraft, to evaluate the various types of real-time-communication links of the ORCA system.
